Joe Jackson asks for $500 million from Dr. Murray, as damage for Michael Jackson’s death
Joe Jackson asks for $500 million from Dr. Murray, as damage for Michael Jackson’s death

When Michael Jackson died, his father, Joe Jackson, lost more than a son: he also lost the person who provided for him. Consequently, in his part of the wrongful death lawsuit, Joe is asking for half a billion dollars as damage.

Granted, no amount of money can replace Michael but, as Joe sees it, $500 million should be just enough to take care of his expenses, like the late King of Pop would have done had he still been alive.

TMZ has gotten hold of the court documents and, according to them, Joe believes his estimates are correct when he’s asking Dr. Conrad Murray to fork over $500 million as damages.

As fans must know, Murray is being investigated for manslaughter for allegedly injecting Michael with a lethal dose of the powerful anesthetic Propofol.

At the same time, he’s also named as defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by several parties, among which Joe Jackson as well.

Though the highest amount named by Joe in the documents is of $500 million, he may as well settle for much less, as $10 million is the smallest amount mentioned.

“In the docs – part of Joe’s wrongful death lawsuit – he claims the money he seeks is in ‘the realistic range of provable damages’,” TMZ reports.

“Joe says 20% of his damages are for loss of support, 40% are for emotional distress and 40% are for ‘loss of comfort, aid, society and companionship’,” the same report informs.

Oddly enough, Joe had been estranged from Michael for years at the time of his death, if one is to believe reports in the media – and the two always had a strained relationship.

While Joe’s claims may seem “realistic” to him and his representative, they’ve already hit the biggest obstacle imaginable: Murray, Michael’s personal physician at the time of his death, is broke.

“And this is huge... Dr. Murray says he’s broke and can’t settle anything because his insurance company is refusing to cover him,” TMZ has learned.

“Joe’s lawyer, Brian Oxman, also says he may take the depositions of more than 60 people who have info regarding Jackson’s death,” the same media outlet explains.

“Dr. Murray says in his new filings he does not want to sit for a deposition until after the criminal case runs its course. It’s a whole 5th Amendment thing,” it is further being said.
