One of the hardest things to do when you are expecting a child is to find the perfect name that will, believe it or not, influence the newborn's life. One special type of father decided to leave the agonizing job of looking for a name for his baby girl to the Internet and sparked a viral debate on whether the child should be named “Zelda” or “Not Zelda.”

Stephen McLaughlin was in a less creative moment of his life and, in his attempt to find the perfect name for his baby girl due on April 2, he set up a website and invited Internet users, through a Reddit message, to propose first and middle names for his baby.

The website NameMyDaughter.com was flooded with amateur baptizing users offering some of the most hilarious names ever thought of. The winning name, as weird as it will be, will end up on the baby girl's birth certificate. Stephen removed the rude and promiscuous suggestions but left everything else in the competition.

The soon-to-be father wrote on the website “Hi, my name is Stephen and much to the disbelief of my wife, I have decided to let the Internet name* my daughter.”

The asterisk from the word name means that the man is aware of the effects the Internet can have and ultimately he will be taking the final decision, because his daughter will not be named “WachyTaco692.”

For a few days, the winning name was “Amelia Mae McLaughlin” but getting closer to the first spot were Cthulhu, Laquisha, Megatron, Ixtley, Slagathor, and personal favorites Zelda and Not Zelda.

For the middle name, there are some interesting suggestions as well, starting with the Iron-Man tribute All-Spark going on to Le-Dash-A, Pond, Salad, Titanium or Hero. Now, the current winning name is “All-Spark McLaughlin.”

From the submissions, the man already had to remove a few inappropriate names that some indecent users proposed. But other users have been incredibly cooperative and gave a few really good names for the baby girl.

Users are strongly trying to make “Cthulhu” the winning name and, in their attempt, they have already tried to hack Stephen's account, updated the page saying “1700 votes for CTHULHU” and promoted it on several social media sites. Hopefully, they will not succeed in their attempts to name the baby girl after an ugly mythical creature.
