14 DAY TRIAL // Do you remember how several glossies and tabs were trying to fat-shame Leonardo DiCaprio in July this year, after he was photographed on a beach in Miami sporting a larger-than-usual gut? It seems to have worked, because he’s vowed to get back in good shape by losing 10 pounds (4.53 kg).
After the Oscars in February and yet another snub in the Best Actor category, and once he was done doing all promo work, Leo took the summer off to travel around the world and party with friends.
This is actually what he does every year because he can very well afford it, both from a financial point of view and where he is at with his career. Few other stars are actually this lucky to be able to do that, but DiCaprio is one of them.
By July though, it became clear that all that partying, all that drinking and obviously all that careless attitude towards calorie intake had taken a toll on his figure: in the aforementioned pics, he was photographed with a considerable gut, and he also appeared somewhat fuller in the face.
Attached to this article is a very recent photo of DiCaprio on his most recent red carpet outing and you can see that, when fully dressed, there really isn’t that much of a difference between how he looks today and how he did several months ago. The longer hair and beard are believed to be for a movie role, so they don’t count.
Still, Star magazine writes in its latest print edition (story via CB) that he’s determined to go on a diet to get rid of his belly gut: by fall, he wants to go down 10 pounds (4.53 kg).
“He has given up pasta – and he loves pasta. He also plans on working out more and he is taking his bike wherever he goes,” an insider reveals for the tab.
Apparently, DiCaprio wants to do that because he’s personally unhappy with how he looks and not because he believes he should in order to keep his much younger girlfriend, model Toni Garrn, interested. “Of course she doesn’t care! He’s Leonardo DiCaprio!,” the same insider adds.
We might as well assume that no one from the industry pressured him into doing it, on the same reasoning: he’s Leonardo DiCaprio! and he can do basically what he wants, even if that means gaining weight and a gut.
So either Leo is determined to overhaul his lifestyle to get healthier, or he read some of the nasty comments people had been posting online about his beer gut.
