Ubisoft has shared a few more details about Far Cry 4, its upcoming first-person shooter, and how its villain, Pagan Min, wants to be friends with protagonist Ajay and subvert the views of players in regards to typical bad guys in games.

Far Cry 4 was revealed to the world a few months ago and immediately it sparked controversy regarding its villain. After the E3 2014 gameplay demonstration, which showed the opening sequences of the game and how protagonist Ajay meets Pagan Min, many rumors started floating around the web saying that Min might be Ajay's father.

Far Cry 4 Creative Director Alex Hutchinson has talked with OutsideXbox about the main villain and immediately shot down any reports about fatherhood, saying that his team doesn't want to implement a cheap twist and try to recreate the Star Wars situation.

"[Pagan Min] is not your father. Absolutely not. It wouldn't have been an interesting twist. It's the Luke Skywalker situation. It worked so well and people want to do it again."

However, Hutchinson emphasizes that Min has a history with Ajay and that the protagonist is well known in the fictional country of Kyrat by quite a lot of people, even if he doesn't know that.

"He is someone who has a history with you. We didn't want a villain who's just shaking his fist at you and threatening to kill you and murder your family, and the inevitability of you shotgunning him in the face. And neither did we want someone who didn't know you at all. We wanted you to actually sort of have a secret history in this country."

"So all those things feeding together means everyone you meet kind of knows who you are but you as the player weren't raised there. You were born there but you don't know anyone else. So hopefully it's unsettling."

Last but not least, Hutchinson says that Min wants to be a friend for Ajay and wants to do all the crazy things a player would normally want out of a Far Cry game.

"He wants to be your buddy. I like the idea of the antagonist, the guy you're meant to be afraid of says 'Come one then, let's ride an elephant, shoot guns, it's going to be great.' And you as a player would be like 'I kind of want to do that stuff.' We want to do that black humor that makes people think."

Far Cry 4 is set to debut this fall and you can bet that more details about Pagan Min, Ajay, and the story of the game will be revealed until then.
