Ubisoft has shared some more background details about Pagan Min, the villain of its upcoming Far Cry 4 first-person shooter, chronicling his ascension to fame as well as his origins from Hong Kong and the eventual arrival in the fictional country of Kyrat.

Far Cry 4 is set to launch in November and the new open world shooter brings forth a series of all-new features, starting with the fresh story that focuses on protagonist Ajay Ghile and sees him interact with villain Pagan Min, the dictator of the fictional Himalayan country of Kyrat.

While a few videos and some details about Ghile and Min were revealed in recent months, Ubisoft has now provided a wealth of background information about the charismatic bad guy, ahead of the game's actual debut.

Pagan Min's origins lie in Hong Kong

First up, it seems that Pagan Min was the son of a mid-level drug dealer from Hong Kong. Growing up, however, wasn't that great for Min, as his flamboyant style and his frustration that his father wasn't climbing the ranks ultimately led to a feud between them.

His father died soon after, of mysterious causes, according to Ubisoft, and Min took over, slowly accumulating both wealth, power, and his own private army.

"Pagan quickly started carving himself more of the pie he believed that he deserved. He built considerable assets, a small private army, and started angering his allies in the heroin trade. He didn't fit in and he knew he couldn't kill them all; it was only a matter of time before the old guard decided to have him killed," Ubisoft explains.

Min seized the chance for power in Kyrat

In order to escape what was coming to him in Hong Kong, Min and his acolytes went to Kyrat, which was in the middle of a civil war between different factions. He allied himself with the Royalists, which were supporting a distant heir to the country's throne.

"After a few bloody months, Pagan and the united Royalists took the palace by storm, but Pagan betrayed the Royalists by murdering the heir and seizing the throne for himself. He then started a purge of anyone who didn't fall in line, executing his opposition. The betrayal led to the formation of the Golden Path, a small resistance movement dedicated to overthrowing Pagan."

You can bet that much more of Pagan Min's story will be revealed by the actual Far Cry 4 game when it appears in November, so look forward to its arrival on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
