Far Cry 3 tries to deliver an intense story filled with complex characters, according to its Producer, Dan Hay, who believes that some of the villains are quite similar to infamous bad guys like The Joker from the Batman movies or Hannibal Lecter from Silence of the Lambs.

Far Cry 3 is set to once again deliver an intense first-person shooter experience with stunning visuals and, just like its predecessor, it wants to blend it into a complex story that explores the notions of insanity.

According to Producer Dan Hay, he and his team have tried to deliver believable and complex characters that evolve once you start interacting with them.

“We want to portray the depth of personalities,” he told CVG. “If someone gave an assessment of you or me there would probably be something straightforward, but the reality is that we're a bit more complex than that.”

According to Hay, this complexity is what makes characters, especially villains, that much more memorable.

“You think about characters like Hannibal Lecter, or the Joker, and you realise that these are infinitely complex characters who think about the world differently,” he added.

“For us, in Far Cry 3 we have characters who all think about the world differently. The idea is to present the sense of when you start to grow up, and when you meet new people and you're enamored by them, but eventually you will realize that your first judgments on them may not be the correct picture. What we are trying to portray is complexities of motivations.”

Ubisoft presented two of the biggest villains in the game, Vaas and Buck, through a special video last week, showing off their deranged nature and how they interacted with the player.

Far Cry 3 is out at the end of November on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
