It seems that Clint Hocking, the man who was behind the development of Far Cry 2, has moved to developer LucasArts. The company confirmed the news after a Ubisoft employed community developer posted a Twitter message about the move. It's not clear what Clint Hocking would be working on at his new development home.

LucasArts told GameSpot that “We are pleased to announce that Clint Hocking has joined LucasArts as creative director on an unannounced project”. The developer is well known for his work on the Splinter Cell series and on the much lauded Far Cry 2, a game that pushed the boundaries of the first person shooter genre offering a vibrant open world to explore, complex shooting mechanics and a wide array of ways to approach every combat situation. The game did well at retail and it was widely assumed that Hocking would be working on Far Cry 3 before he announced that he would leaving his post as creative director at Ubisoft Montreal.

LucasArts is at the moment working on two projects that are using its best known intellectual property, Star Wars. The Force Unleashed II is set to be launched this fall, on October 26, and will again tell the story of Starkiller, with the character looking for both his memories and a way to get back at Darth Vader, who is now his enemy. The company is also involved with BioWare in the development of Star Wars: The Old Republic, a MMO which will take place several thousand years before the movie series created by George Lucas.

Fans have long asked LucasArts to put out a new installment in the Star Wars Battlefield series but the company has not yet confirmed that such a project is in development. It would be intriguing to see how a Clint Hocking designed open world Battlefield looks and plays.
