Believe it or not, a Jennifer Lopez superfan has started a petition online to have a street in the Bronx renamed after the popular pop singer. Not only that, but the petition is actually gathering momentum and supporters online, which could mean that, soon enough, Jennifer might have her own street.

The man behind the campaign is Edgardo Luis Rivera, who claims he himself is from the Bronx, New York, and who wants a street to bear Jennifer's name. The reason for that is her huge fame and the fact that she was born and grew up in the Bronx in a Puerto Rican family.

Fan claims that Lopez is deserving the honor because she made the Bronx famous

The rest of the petition goes on to list the numerous achievements, both in the box office and in the music charts, of the curvaceous Latina, which should serve as proof to anyone who reads the text that she is indeed worthy of such an accolade.

At the time of writing this article, the petition filed on Change had a little over 1,400 signatures, which means that at least Rivera is not alone in thinking that Jennifer should be honored in her own neighborhood.

Rivera closes his argument by saying, “She's an inspiration to so many Bronxites. Throughout her career, she's made a point of telling people she's from the Bronx. I like that she's never forgotten where she came from.”

The fan is dead serious about his plans and aims to do more than just post an online petition. He also claims that he will go in front of the Community Board 9's transportation committee to propose the name change on November 7.

Jennifer should be proud to have such devoted fans who call themselves J. Lovers and who plan to make her famous for ever.

Not all people from the Bronx feel the same about Jennifer since she never came back after she became famous

That being said, Jennifer didn't actually enjoy a lot of popularity back in her neighborhood earlier this summer, when she planned a comeback concert in native Bronx. The concert was supposed to coincide with the release of her new album and was planned like a big homecoming.

Bronx residents were given free tickets to the show, but at the time, Page Six reported that people didn't come running to see the show. In fact, much of the stadium was left empty as many voiced their rage against Lopez, claiming that she was never part of the Bronx community because, as soon as she hit it big, she never came back.

Residents would have liked to see her more involved in local issues and to see her giving something back to the place she grew up in. But under current circumstances, they chose to boycott her performance and not show up even when they could get in for free.
