Singer says the journey so far has been fantastic

Despite her immense popularity after wowing audiences with her rendition of the classic “I Dreamed a Dream” on the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, and the subsequent media backlash, which also included a few days in a London mental health clinic, Susan Boyle has not yet given a televised interview. That will change today, as the singer has already sat down with Meredith Vieira for a taping of the “Today” show, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

Transcripts of the interview have been released to the media and, from what they read, Boyle is not having an easy time coping with being famous and the amount of attention – and ultimately criticism – this brings. The singer, for one, can compare being plucked from obscurity and catapulted straight to the status of international star to being hit by a demolition ball. Still, she wouldn’t change a thing about it even if she had the possibility to do so, Boyle adds.

“The impact, like a demolition ball. You know, and anyone who has that kind of impact – finds it really hard to get a head around it. I’ve got to be honest here. I guess I had to get my head around it, but through the – the guidance of a great team, and they are very good, I was able to see that in perspective and really turn that around a little.” Boyle says of how so much exposure has affected her life, leading, as she was, a very secluded existence.

Still, being now able to work with the sharp-tongued Simon Cowell on her debut album and, ultimately, do what she always wanted to do (sing, that is) somewhat compensate for the overexposure and the problems that arise from not being able to cope with it. A very frank and open Boyle admits to Vieira that she wouldn’t change a thing about her life right now – even if she could, by some strange twist of fate.

“Being plucked from obscurity is a bit like, you know, going on a long journey. You don’t know what’s going to happen. You don’t know how it’s going to end. I don’t want it to end.” Boyle explains in the same interview. On the same note, a release date for her first album has not yet been set but, according to one of Cowell’s previous statements, it might take a while until it drops since it’s meant to be just “perfect.”
