After plenty of rumors, speculation, a countdown, and an early leak, Bethesda officially confirms that Fallout 4 is real and that it's coming to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One platforms. Alongside the announcement, the company also brings forth a gameplay video and quite a few interesting details.

Fallout 4 has been rumored to be in development for many years now, as all sorts of speculation and reports have surface online, some more farfetched than others. However, a central theme ran through them - that Fallout 4 was going to take place in Boston and the surrounding area.

Fallout 4 is finally official

Now, after a countdown timer and a brief early leak, Bethesda confirms that Fallout 4 is real and that it does, in fact, take place in the Boston area.

Besides the actual confirm, the studio also reveals that the post-apocalyptic role-playing game is coming to the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, and that it's already available for pre-order on the three different platforms.

The release date is unknown right now as the official website is being hammered but it could appear either this fall or in the first few months of 2016.

The gameplay video confirms many things

Last but not least, an actual gameplay video depicting plenty of action from the upcoming RPG is also available. It confirms several different locations like Boston's Scollay Square, as well as the surrounding wilderness and quite a few other settlements that are a far cry from the ruins seen in Fallout 3, for example.

A giant flying ship and Brotherhood of Steel members are also depicted, and of course, the main protagonist, a Vault Dweller who seems to have survived from Vault 111. The video shows him speaking, so it's possible that the main protagonist is voiced, at least for the male option.

Dogmeat is also confirmed for a return, so you'll have at least one companion throughout the Wasteland.

Expect to see much more of Fallout 4 on June 15, when Bethesda is set to organize its own press conference in honor of E3 2015. At that time, it will organize a more thorough presentation for Fallout 4, as well as for other upcoming titles like the new Doom.
