Direct2Drive, the digital distribution service owned by IGN, and Fallen Earth, the company that handled development and publishing duties for the game of the same name, have announced that they have entered into a partnership that will see the title get an exclusive Survival Kit accessible to all those who buy it from Direct2Drive. The new package will allow those new to Fallen Earth to quickly get started in the post apocalyptic MMO.

The Survival Kit that is made up of a Wasteland Scavenging Tool, a Buddy Key and two Back Alley Experience Shots. These last two items might be the most important of those offered as they boost the experience of the player character by five percent each, allowing new comers to more quickly get the skills needed to survive and thrive. The Scavenger Tool is pretty important as it allows players to more easily get the scarce resources of the world, while the Buddy Key permits a friend to also partake in the experience.

Jessica Orr, who is the marketing manager for Fallen Earth, stated that “Direct2Drive has been a major player in Fallen Earth's digital distribution since launch and we are pleased to be able to offer their customers a new item.”

Fallen Earth is set in the area around the Gran Canyon in the year 2156, after a cataclysm has all but destroyed the planet. The game includes mechanics specific to both role playing games and first person shooters in a MMO context.

There are six factions that fight around the Hoover Dam and all the monsters and weapons such a context requires. There are no classes in the MMO and all players choose skills as they level up in order to obtain the mix of capabilities, which will allow them to survive in the wasteland.
