There are many ways to boost a system's performance, but it seems Falcon went for the one with arguably the highest profile, namely a PCI Express solid state drive that OCZ launched some time ago.

Though PCI Express SSDs weren't very popular at first, they started to attract more followers when they became bootable.

OCZ has one such bootable PCIe SSD, or at least a series of them dubbed RevoDrvie X2.

Those not up to speed with such things will be interested in knowing that PCI Express solid state drives are known for their monumental transfer speeds.

The models in question can read at up to 740 MB/s and write at p to 720 MB/s. Basically, loading any application shouldn't take any more than a second or so (probably less in many cases).

Not only that, but the drives have capacities of between 100 GB and 960 GB, as well as an internal RAID 0 setup. They are made out of MLC (multi-level cell) NAND Flash memory chips.

"We've been looking for a bootable, solid-state PCI Express storage solution for years" said Kelt Reeves, President of Falcon Northwest.

"Before OCZ introduced the RevoDrive, other brands we'd tested ran too hot, were too small, too slow, weren't bootable and were always too expensive,” Reeves added.

“With the new RevoDrive X2 series, OCZ has set a new bar for cost per gigabyte, performance and size in PCI Express storage. They offer cold, silent, wickedly fast performance in sizes for every budget,” he went on to saying.

The two gaming systems from Falcon that will, from now on, feature the OCZ RevoDrvie X2 as a storage option are the Mach V and Talon.
