Van Natta out!

Facebook has a small vengeful community at its top. Once Mark Zuckerberg's right hand man, Owen Van Natta, is said to be leaving his position in two weeks' time. It looks like while at the startup social network it doesn't pay off to aspire to be CEO, it might trigger some unwanted attention to your grandeur dreams.

That's pretty much the story in short: Owen wanted to be chief executive officer while he was in position of chief operating officer and Marky Mark did not agree. Furthermore, he even demoted Van Natta to be vice president of revenue operations. And remember, it doesn't matter how many words your title has, it's about the executive scheme. I remember some poor soul that wanted all his life to have a lot of titles before his name just because it sounded important.

As per usual, shares of the company were involved in the former COO's contract, but whether they will be bought back at the $15 billion valuations is yet to be seen. Based on the demotion, I'm guessing probably not, but when it comes to old friends (and right hands), some tend to let bygones be bygones, whatever a bygone might be.

Facebook is now in the driver's seat when it comes to popularity growth with social networks, aspiring to overthrow the MySpace worldwide dominance that has been going on for years. It had its glory days back in autumn, when applications were brought to its platform by the bundle and the stack, but with time and the decrease in the widgets' quality and ingenuity, users have become "app fatigued" and fed up with them altogether. Several groups have been formed, mostly because the propagation methods that the app developers came up with were very ambiguous. Descriptions like "in order to add this widget to your page you must invite 20 friends" have started a wave of protest within the closed Facebook community.
