Mobile phone users who like staying connected with their friends over the increasingly popular social networking site Facebook now have a new application available for their handsets that enables them to do so, the Facebook for Every Phone app.

The new mobile software was released into the wild with support for a number of over 2,500 different phone models, and sports the most popular features that users usually enjoy on Facebook.

Whether it involves accessing the News Feed, Inbox, and Photos, the new mobile application can deliver, and the same applies to uploading photos or videos on the social networking site while on the go.

Starting today, the new application is made available for download for Java-enabled mobile phones, and is expected to become available for even more handsets in the not-too-distant future.

“Today, we're launching the new Facebook for Every Phone app, which offers a fast and comprehensive Facebook experience on over 2,500 different phones,” the development team explains.

“This app not only includes Facebook’s most popular features, such as News Feed, Inbox, and Photos, but also enables you to upload photos and find friends from your phone’s contacts.”

The Facebook for Every Phone app will be available globally on Java-enabled phones starting today, and we are working on making the app compatible with even more handsets in the future.

With this application, all that Facebook has to offer to its users is available on mobile phones as well. More on the software can be found in the video embedded below.

But there is more to it, as Facebook also announced agreements with wireless carriers around the world to offer free data access with this application, though only for a three-month period.

“We also want to make sure the Facebook for Every Phone app is affordable to try and use, which is why we’ve collaborated with many carriers worldwide (see list below) to offer you free data access to this app for 90 days,” the development team notes.

“This experience is optimized to use less data than other Java apps or mobile sites, making it much more affordable for people to use when the 90-day period ends.”

The list of carriers includes: Aircel (India), Airtel (India), Banglalink (Bangladesh), Beeline (Russia), Celcom (Malaysia), Etisalat (Egypt, Nigeria), Globe (Philippines), Idea (India), Indosat (Indonesia), O2 Telefonica (Germany), Reliance (India), Smart (Philippines), Smartfren (Indonesia), Telkomsel (Indonesia), Three (Indonesia, United Kingdom), TIM (Brazil), TMN (Portugal), Ufone (Pakistan), and Vodafone (Turkey).

The new Facebook for Every Phone application is available for download from Softpedia as well, via this link.
