A new version of the Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook application is now available for those who purchased the new device from Research In Motion, included in the recently announced OTA (over-the-air) BlackBerry Tablet OS v1.0.5 upgrade, and set to be put for download through the BlackBerry App World storefront very soon.

The new flavor of the application comes with features that should make a wide range of users rejoice, including video uploading, better Facebook search, improved access to Pages, message deletion, and enhancements brought to the News Feeds.

With the new release of Facebook for PlayBook, users will be able to shoot videos using the tablet's camera, and upload them on the social networking site.

At the same time, the new application version comes with improved Facebook search. Users will benefit from a new Friends Search, as well as from Everyone Search, and also a Pages Search.

The application also comes with a new Pages tab, which can be accessed from the Friends list, and which enables users view My Pages and Pages You Like, while being able to link to them to interact with their Wall, Info, and Photos.

Facebook messages can now be deleted from the mobile application. All that users would need to do is to press and hold the screen until the delete button appears.

“Note: Deleting a Facebook message from the Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook app will also permanently delete it from your Facebook account, so use this feature wisely,” the development team notes.

Other changes in the new Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook include the ability to select the album you would like to upload a photo to, for keeping things organized easier than before.

Users have now the possibility to interact with their News Feeds via the More button, so that they can Like or comment on posts without leaving the News Feed view.

“Lastly, we’ve removed the Options icon from the Notifications bar, but don’t fret: you can still access Options – as well as the Help Center and Logout button – by swiping down from the top frame of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet screen to reveal these options,” the said blog post reads.
