The latest online video numbers for April show that Germany is leading the way in Europe when it comes to video consumption, followed by Turkey and the UK, out of the seven countries measured. Germany is on top in every metric measured, in terms of number of viewers, hours watched and the number of videos watched.

"Germany ranks as the leader in online video viewing, with 45 million unique viewers watching an average of 187 videos for 19.6 hours per viewer in April," comScore reported.

"Turkey, with 20.7 million viewers overall, ranked second in terms of engagement with 169 videos viewed for an average 18.7 hours per viewer. The UK emerged as the third strongest online video market in engagement with 166 videos watched for 17.0 hours on average per viewer," it added.

With close to 45 million unique viewers, Germany is the biggest market, though others are close in this metric, Russia had close to 40 million viewers and France close to 39 million in April this year.

But Germany has the most voracious viewers as well, the average user watched almost 187 videos that month. The closest to it is Turkey with 169 videos per viewer, followed by UK viewers with 166 videos.

Not only are German users watching more videos, they're also watching for longer, an average of 19.6 hours of online video in April. Viewers in Turkey are again close by, with 18.7 hours, followed by those in Spain with 18.4 hours.

Google sites, aka YouTube, are the most popular in Europe in all countries except Turkey. There's a reason for the discrepancy, YouTube has been blocked for long period of times in the country and Google has been facing plenty of difficulties over the content users upload to the video site.

Facebook is making a good showing, taking first place in Turkey, second place in Italy and third place in France, Germany and Spain. France-based Dailymotion comes in second place in France, unsurprisingly, and in third place in Turkey.
