Luton airport has released a statement apologizing for a snafu on their Facebook page that many people were really offended by.

An employee posted a photo of a Southwest Airlines jet that crashed into a highway in 2005, after veering off the runway at Chicago Midway airport. The caption included a joke about that sort of thing never happening at Luton.

“Because we are such a super airport....this is what we prevent you from when it snows......Weeeee :),” it read.

However, the Chicago Midway accident ended in the death of a six-year-old boy as the plane smashed into the vehicle he was in.

Many Facebook users were appalled by the use of the image and demanded it be taken off, which airport officials did in about 75 minutes time, Metro relays.

“We apologize for any offense caused. Further steps have been taken to guarantee this never happens again,” a spokesperson said in a statement.
