Those who have used the same password in both places are being warned

Facebook has analyzed the user credentials leaked online after the Adobe hack to see which of its customers have been utilizing the same passwords for both services.

According to Brian Krebs, members whose Facebook passwords match the one used to register an account with Adobe are being presented with a warning that reads:

“Recently, there was a security incident on another website unrelated to Facebook. Facebook has not directly been affected by this incident, but your Facebook account is at risk because you were using the same password in both places.”

Users who are presented with this warning are instructed to answer a few questions and change their passwords.

Facebook representatives have told Krebs that it’s common practice to analyze data leaked in major breaches to see if any of the social network’s customers are affected.

The company has refused to reveal the exact number of users who are in this situation.

Judging by the data, there could be millions. Considering that around 3.5 million people have used the weakest passwords possible – such as “123456” and “password” – it’s likely that they haven't put too much effort into making sure that their other accounts can't be compromised in case their passcodes become exposed.
