Still needs some improvement

Facebook, one of the biggest social networking websites, has recently received a new feature - that enhances one of its already released features, namely Mini-Feed. The fellows at Facebook worked out a way to make its users import stories from other sites directly in their Mini-Feed. This new ability was announced a few weeks back, but Facebook reconsidered and has extended the number of websites from which the user can import stories.

The Mini-Feed feature dates back to 2006, when the social networking site received an important face lift, offering users a better experience. Back then, the Mini-Feed feature was advertised to highlight what was happening in the users' social circle. Mini-Feed displayed profile changes of users' friends. Mini-Feed and News Feed (another 2006-released feature) provided users with an easy access to what their friends were doing. The features could be disabled and didn't display information that was under privacy settings.

This year, the guys at Facebook thought that they could improve on this feature by letting users add stories from other websites. Users clicking the "Import" link, found in the corner of Mini-Feed, will be able to connect their Facebook profile with their other profiles on various websites. This is just in theory at the moment, since the service seems to need some additional "attention". However, when it is fully operational, this feature will provide your Facebook profile with content from other websites. The feature appears to be rather similar to Google's Friend Connect, which has prompted Facebook to ban Google because of some development problems.

When the new feature was announced, Facebook users could import stories only from Flickr, Picasa, Digg, Yelp and del.icio.us. With the new upgrade, users can now import content from YouTube, StumbleUpon, Hulu, Pandora, Last.fm, and Google Reader.
