Facebook 5.0 for Windows Phone 8, the popular application that landed on Microsoft’s mobile operating system a few months ago in a beta flavor, is now available for download in a final version, with appealing improvements inside.

The application was released as part of the beta program in an attempt to better spot issues that could affect users’ experience with it, and the intense testing performed during the past few months panned out, it seems.

According to Microsoft, Facebook for Windows Phone 8 is one of the most important applications for the platform, and the release of version 5.0 in a final, stable variant should prove it.

The application arrives on devices with a nice range of new features and enhancements packed inside, many of which are based on user feedback, it seems.

“This major update brings a ton of new features and improvements that many of you have been asking for, including a complete overhaul of the user interface, improved navigation, support for high-res pictures, post sharing, Facebook Timeline view, and more,” Microsoft notes in a blog post.

Furthermore, the company announced that an update for the Windows Phone 7 iteration of the mobile client was also in the works, and that it should arrive before the end of the summer.

Those who would like to download and install the new flavor of Facebook for Windows Phone 8 should head over to this page on Softpedia.

They should also keep in mind that the Facebook Beta program will continue to run past this release, so that more enhancements could be included in future app releases.

“And if you’re the type who enjoys living on the edge and tinkering with pre-release software, then by all means also download the separate Facebook Beta app, which allows you to preview and provide direct feedback on future changes to the app,” Microsoft said.
