A man who has undergone a full face transplant, the first one of the kind performed in the country, has married in Fort Worth this weekend.

Dallas Wiens’ life changed drastically in 2008, when he was electrocuted while performing repair works at Ridglea Baptist Church in Fort Worth. On Saturday, he married his girlfriend of 2 years in the same church.

Jamie Nash of Garland met Wiens in the burn victims unit at Parkland Memorial Hospital, where they both attended meetings with a support group.

According to Dallas News, Nash incurred burns on 70 percent of her body in 2010, after getting into a car crash while texting.

“I think their confidence in their healing process and getting better just made them a perfect match,” describes Ethan Gloger, who works in the Parkland Memorial burn unit.
