The EA Sports team working on FIFA 14 reveals that the entire animation system and the movement mechanics for players have been redesigned from the ground up over a two-year period.

Kantcho Doskov, a gameplay producer working on the new installment, tells VG247 that, “It allows us to create more accurate biomechanical movement.”

The team is trying to blend animation and movement created by the game engine in order to bring players closer to the real world.

He adds, “What this amounts to in the end is a more realistic simulation style of gameplay which is based on Real Player movement and biomechanics. It takes into account the acceleration and deceleration of real players without allowing them to stop on a dime.”

A phenomenon that the FIFA 13 community is referring to as “sweaty goals” will be eliminated via the new mechanics and animations.

In the new game, players will be able to judge how fast players are moving across the pitch and will have to accurately prepare for their future positions before passing the ball.

At the same time, the overall intelligence of the computer-controlled players is being improved in order to make defenses more capable and slow down the pace of attacking runs.

The marking mechanics are also improved for FIFA 14 and EA Sports believes that the changes will result in a bigger challenge even for the most experienced players.

The game also introduces changes to how the ball behaves, with more realistic physics that will lead to more spectacular goals.

FIFA 14 will be launched on the PC and the current generation of home consoles on September 24 in North America and September 27 in Europe.

EA Sports is using an entirely new engine called Ignite for the version for the Xbox One from Microsoft and PlayStation 4 from Sony.
