FIFA 12, the football simulation video game from EA Sports, has led the United Kingdom title chart into 2012, taking the numbers one position for the top ten that was compiled for the week that ended on December 31, 2011.

The FIFA series has been very good at dominating the charts after the big releases of the fall have all fallen out of favor and this year’s installment has also done well in late December and will probably continue to dominate the chart until March, when the likes of Mass Effect 3 and probably Diablo III are launched.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the first person shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision Blizzard, has managed to occupy second place, the same one that it occupied during the previous seven day period.

Battlefield 3, the wargame from DICE and Electronic Arts, has taken over the last place on the podium, gaining one position over the previous week.

Just Dance 3, the rhythm game from Ubisoft, has been going in the opposite direction, dropping one place in order to reach fourth while Assassin’s Creed: Revelations has managed to keep fifth position.

The New Year’ Eve top ten seems pretty similar to that delivered in time for Christmas, with Saints Row: The Third, from THQ and Volition, occupying sixth place and with Need for Speed: The Run, the racing game from Black Box and Electronic Arts, keeping hold of seven.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, from Bethesda, is in eight place while Mario Kart 7, from Nintendo, has made a surprising return to the top ten, reaching ninth coming from twelfth.

Forza Motorsport 4, the Xbox 360 exclusive from Microsoft and Turn 10, closed down the top ten.

Mario & Sonic at the 2012 London Olympic Games from SEGA is out of the top ten as is WWE 12.
