New smartphones packing support for 4G LTE connectivity are expected to arrive on the shelves at Verizon Wireless in the near future, and the Samsung Stratosphere is one of them.

The new mobile phone was spotted into the wild only recently as being on its way to Big Red's network, and the mobile phone has already received the necessary approvals from the Federal Communications Commission.

The mobile phone sports model number Samsung SCH-i405, and the FCC filing that has just been unveiled mentions the same device as being on its way to the market with LTE connectivity on board.

The available documents from FCC (via UnwiredView) also show that the handset was packed with CDMA/EVDO connectivity capabilities, in addition to LTE.

Some of the previously reports on this device suggested that it might be launched with a Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen display that boasts a WVGA resolution.

Moreover, rumor has it that the phone would include a five-megapixel photo snapper on the back, along with a 1.3-camera on the front.

Also, the Samsung Stratosphere was said to arrive on shelves with a sliding QWERTY keyboard to complement the large touchscreen display.

The phone is also expected to arrive on shelves with 2GB of internal memory, and with the possibility to expand it through a microSD memory card slot.

The mobile phone was also said to be in its way to the market with a price tag of around $150 on contract, and might be unveiled to the world as soon as this week.

For the time being, however, no official details on the availability and pricing of this device have emerged, though its existence was confirmed via the said FCC filing.

Verizon is hard at work with expanding the coverage of its LTE network, and the launch of more handsets with support for the network will certainly attract more users on its side, especially if these devices are accessibly priced.
