A report offering a “compilation of the changes and preparations” noted ahead of the iPhone 3G S launch includes important information about the new device, including features, pricing, and more.

As Sofpedia noted earlier, iPhone fans should pay particular attention to what the iPhone 3G S brings that OS 3.0 doesn’t. Back to the report in question, MacRumors claims to have learned of the following facts surrounding iPhone 3G S, iPhone OS 3.0, as well as AT&T’s plans with the device:

– The new MobileMe Find My iPhone feature has been live this past week. – Push Notification support is beginning to appear in the App Store. Tap Tap Revenge [App Store] specifically has been updated to provide push notifications. – The iPhone 3G S Firmware 3.0 has already appeared on Apple's servers. This firmware is specifically for the new iPhone 3G S (iPhone2,1), so is not recommended to be installed on older iPhones. – AT&T has posted a FAQ (PDF) about the iPhone 3G S and comments on MMS and tethering.

Naturally, the FAQ PDF in question reveals even more than just info on MMS and tethering availability. Answers to questions like, “Am I eligible for an upgrade?” are offered there, as well as details regarding the pricing of the iPhone 3G S bought without a contract (no commitment).

“Upgrades are based on a number of factors including the outstanding time left on your service agreement, payment history and other factors,” AT&T reveals. “Check online, visit our store, or dial *639# from your AT&T handset for information about if or when you may be eligible for an upgrade,” the US mobile services provider advises potential customers. However, “Even if you’re not yet eligible, you still have a number of choices,” AT&T explains. Here are your options:

– Wait until you are eligible…  – Pay the early-upgrade price for iPhone 3G S… – Purchase iPhone 3G S at the no commitment price... – Or, continue to use your current iPhone 3G, which is eligible for the free upgrade to the new software on June 17 and has many compelling new features.

MMS and tethering will be available later this year, AT&T stresses, also linking to Apple’s iPhone section for a complete overview of the new features brought by iPhone 3G S. As far as pricing goes, “No Commitment” prices are listed as follows, for both the old iPhone 3G and the new iPhone 3G S:

– iPhone 3G S (16 GB): $599; – iPhone 3G S (32 GB): $699; – iPhone 3G (8 GB): $499; – iPhone 3G (16 GB): $549 (while supplies last).

Are you eligible for an upgrade? Are you looking forward to buying your iPhone 3G S?
