INTEL adds another thing to its wish-list

Christmas is almost here. And as the day itself comes closer, most guys and girls fill up their lists with whishes in the hope that Santa will bring them what they want. As weird as it may seem, the wish-list mania has actually produced a virus that can also infect IT giants. And guess what holds the number one spot on INTEL's 2 feet sheet?

I've heard of WiMax at least once a week this year. I know they are investing a lot of money in this technology but the fact that every week they have something new to add is quite annoying. Maybe the WiMax revolution will actually mean something other than press releases and tons of cash; but - until now - I've seen almost nothing that could convince me of that.

The answer to such a dilemma comes probably from the most unexpected point. Many of you may know that F1 cars gather a lot of data from the track. The data is then processed and a detailed analysis is made based upon the recorded graphics. And in case you're wondering what does that have to do with WiMax, the answer is pretty easy. F1 builders think that it would be an advantage to use realtime analysis of the data that comes from the car.

INTEL says that using WiMax, about 4GBs of data could be sent through the wireless connection. While teams like BMW are really interested in this new technology, only FIA can adopt the standard because no team alone can use a service that would provide such an advantage. It's an all or nothing scenario here and FIA, as always, runs at its own pace.

While Ecclestone doesn't seem to be interested (at least for now), the technology looks rather appealing, especially since through WiMax, the teams could also stream video and audio content.
