For all the Formula 1 hotheads out there, the upcoming first race of Melbourne, Australia, is the mark of a beautiful time of the year. Here's to the 2008 season getting underway and to those brilliant "madmen" that have decided to re-create it on Google Maps. For, what is folly without the means to make it heard to all akin?

If you recall, and you do, there's no doubt about it in my mind, last year saw young Lewis Hamilton miss the big W to Kimi Raikkonen, in the last race of the season. Never mind the scandal afterwards, with the possible disqualification of the BMW Sauber and Williams pilots for fuel irregularities that could have pushed the young Brit superstar to a position that would have ensured the title. Being fair-play, he said that he did not want to be crowned as winner of the 2007 Drivers World Championship after a scandal.

There are three maps available for the fans in you, and the first is Glotter. All of the race tracks for this year have been included, plus some linking to the official website of each track for further information. Even more, should you chose to, you could embed their map on your website by cutting / pasting a small piece of code, as Google Maps Mania revealed.

The second map, dubbed Pinmaps, presents 67 motor racing tracks all around the world, giving on turn the option to cut / paste the link to the map. The third one, the Australia Grand Prix presents only the Albert Park track in Melbourne, tagged with the names and numbers of each of the corners. Videos of the 2007 Australian Grand Prix have been included, highlights mostly, but they're just as fun to watch now as they were last year, live.

What can I say? May the best man win, as long as he's driving a Ferrari.
