F-Secure announced that it would make available a new version of its F-Secure Mobile Security during this month for the fresh S60 5th Edition platform, the latest version based on S60 Symbian OS. F-Secure Mobile Security 5 is one of the first software solutions to come with support for the new touch user interface the S60 5th Edition brings to smartphones.

According to Arnoud de Vaal, Solution Management Director, F-Secure Mobile Solutions Business Unit, users need to protect all the valuable data they store on smartphones, including pictures, banking details, e-mails, business projects and other important and confidential files. At the same time, he announced that the new touch-based solution for S60 smartphone users would become available through the company's mobile operator partners and the F-Secure eStore.

“Corporate customers are very demanding in terms of secure mobile communication. Due to their increasing mobility, their requirements for security solutions are also growing. With Mobile Security 5, F-Secure offers a service that perfectly fits these growing needs. Swisscom's cooperation with F-Secure has a successful history: since 2005 we have been providing all Symbian OS-based smartphones with its services, which means we were one of the first operators globally to provide mobile phone devices with pre-installed security software,” stated Michael Treutner, Head of Marketing at Swisscom KMU.

The new F-Secure Mobile Security 5 will allow users to take full advantage of the capabilities of their devices without having to fear mobile threats. The new solution comes to S60 5th and 3rd Edition smartphones with a real-time antivirus coupled with firewall, antitheft and antispyware. In addition, the solution has a totally redesigned user interface and advanced anti-theft features with remote lock; remote wipe and theft control functionalities are also included.

The F-Secure Mobile Security 5 can be found at the F-Secure eStore, at the Nokia Download! and F-Secure mobile operator partners. S60 5th edition smartphone users will find it on the same channels. At the same time, the company also announced that the new solution would become available for Windows Mobile handsets later during spring. The F-Secure Mobile Security portal provides both a free trial of the software and a list with the supported devices.
