No liquids, though (they could've used some beer at least)

Once more, a quick piece of news for the sound professionals, right in the moment where I was somehow rising from my chair to go home; nevertheless, I'm glad I did not hurry because we're talking the ultra-fresh release from Foucusrite... the Liquid Mix 2.0.

For those not that well-acquainted to the digital racks or home studios, the Liquid Mix is an award-winning multi-channel DSP-based EQ and Compression tool that will ease a lot your sonic struggles while trying to get your recordings sound right. All the joy is the new software version (2.0, remember?) for this handy unit - you now can benefit from more options for a more pro-grade processing and have more ways to go on for your great sounding-audio.

One of the neat improvements in the Focusrite Liquid Mix is the side-chaining option for any of the 32-channel instances of the tool: just assign a button to operate de-essing or running other frequency-selective compression algorithms - press it and things are suddenly on the move as you can monitor this frequency in the software's window, along with the rest of the parameters you're interested in.

The second big change in the life of Focusrite Liquid Mix was the automatic focus on the particular instance displayed on the screen, as a default setting; you can now work faster and need not worry you could be processing the wrong thing - automation ensures a much better synch between the hardware control surfaces and the software sessions.

Finally you can adjust latency for your work spanning from 264 to 8200 samples and thus being able to better synchronize with DAW applications that run fixed size-buffers like Bias Peak, Steinberg WaveLab, Adobe Audition, Sony Sound Forge, Vegas and ACID. The software is free for download here.

As Focusrite themselves are speccing, the new Liquid Mix comes as:

One of a kind - any Compressor and EQ in history Every Liquid Mix channel uses dynamic convolution to provide 20 EQs and 40 compressors, with a free expanding library online. ■ Onboard DSP 32 Channels of Liquid Mix Compression and 32 EQs run off Liquid Mix's own DSP - many more than are possible with CPU alone. ■ Software and Hardware control EQ and Compression can be applied via a hands-on control surface, or within your DAW application via a simple GUI. ■ Hybrid Super EQ creation Unique 7-band super EQs can be created, constructed from separate classic EQ sections of your choosing ■ Desktop Metering Large format LED bar-graphs mean ergonomic display of levels and processor impact. ■ Optional Expansion Card An optional DSP expansion card is available to increase the maximum channel count at higher sample rates.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed.
