A few basic tips for matching your makeup to the shape of your eyes

In a previous post, we were talking about how playing with various colors, shadows and makeup styles can help us make the most of our features and thus camouflage any small imperfections we might have. Light colors, for example, make the eyes appear larger and brighter, while dark colors help us play with contours, modify, sharpen and (re)define the shape of the eye. Medium tones help make the transition from light to dark and blend colors together harmoniously, working together to modify or enhance the appearance of our eyes. Keeping this in mind, we have come to the last series of tricks meant to aid us into making our eyes look gorgeous on every occasion.

1. Protruding eyes - can easily be camouflaged by using either warm or deep colors, which have the effect of making the eyes seemingly recede. Use a medium tone eyeshadow over the entire upper lid and a darker tone on the eyelid crease. An alternative is to apply eyeliner and to smudge it along the entire upper lash line to get a wider eye line. Use a light, neutral shade of eyeshadow all over the upper lid, all the way up to the brow line and it's all done.

2. Round eyes - need to be lengthened. The easiest way to do this is to use eyeliner along the entire upper lid, extending the line past the outer edge of the eye. Draw the line thin at the inner edge of the eye towards the nose and thicker at the outer edge. Apply a simple powdery eyeshadow in a neutral tone all the way up to the eyebrows, tweeze your brows in an arched shape and use blusher on the top of your cheekbones to sharpen the effect.

3. Deep set eyes - need to be made bigger and brighter. On the upper eyelid use light, bright colors. Blend in deeper flesh tones on the brow bone to push it backwards and work stronger colors at the outer edge and under the eye. If you decide to use an eyeliner, draw a thin line on the upper lid and add a softer tone of powder on the brow.
