Rainy Mondays are not an ideal way to start your week and some of us might even find them depressing - however, for the beauty addicts among us, they are the perfect excuse to stay home after work and browse the Internet for fresh ideas to put into practice in warmer, sunnier days. As a result, we have a real treat for you today - hot makeup tips from Jenny Smith, a Makeup Stylist and Trainer with NARS, a British professional cosmetics and skin care company preferred by the likes of Madonna and Victoria Beckham. So, ladies, take out your elegant little black books and write down some of her pieces of advice for a trendy summer look, as you're bound to find Jenny's words extremely helpful.

First of all, she says, brighter colors around your eyes are all the rage this season. Use shades of green, azure blue or even yellow to achieve a tropical, exotic look, or combine a bright eyeliner with a golden or neutral nuance of eyeshadow for contrast. Another more classical option that will make your eyes seem larger and your lashes achieve added length is to use a neutral or ivory shade on your upper eyelids coupled with two coats of black mascara.

In terms of "tropical" colors, Jenny says that some of the hottest shades for the summer (apart from the ones mentioned before) are pink, gold and even orange. It's best to use a cream shadow as a base, combined with a more powdery one to achieve a long-lasting effect. Also, in order to avoid looking old-fashioned wearing blue or green makeup, keep things to the minimum. If you're wearing tropical colored shades, it's essential to also wear a bright, matching eyeliner along the top lash line. It will make the color seem even more intense and give you a sophisticated air. If you want to achieve a killer tropical evening look, apply a bronzing powder, wear brightly colored eyeshadow and use matching, peachy shades for your cheeks and lips - you'll definitely not go unnoticed.
