Earlier this year, on March 29, one of the pipelines operated by ExxonMobil ruptured and spilled thousands of gallons of oil both in the town of Mayflower, central Arkansas, and in its surroundings.

Recent news on the topic says that, in the aftermath of the incident, many of the people living in Northwood, i.e. the neighborhood that the spill hit the hardest, have put up their homes for sale and cannot wait to leave the region.

According to Oil Price, some houses had to be abandoned by their previous owners because oil had infiltrated into their foundation.

However, several families decided to move out for fear that the oil spill would sooner or later take its toll on their health.

Not at all surprisingly, it appears that, of the homes that have been put up for sale, the majority are now the property of ExxonMobil whose buyout program appears surprisingly effective at keeping things from spinning out of control.

Truth be told, it's highly unlikely that anyone but ExxonMobil would consider buying a home in this neighborhood.
