Extreme Networks, the leader in open converged networks, today announced the high performance Summit Wireless Mobility (WM) solution, an innovative Wireless LAN platform that simplifies the deployment and operation of enterprise-class wireless LANs.

The Summit WM-series switches and Altitude 350 Access Points (APs) help organizations build and manage advanced wireless infrastructures that are capable of supporting multiple types of connections: from guests to legacy devices to today's latest converged applications.

Enerprises increasingly must implement and operate a diverse set of complex networking technologies without the luxury of additional staff or specialized skills. Extreme Networks' Summit WM series switches assist overextended IT departments with capabilities that automate deployment and dynamically respond to changes or equipment failures:

- WM Access Domains for simple, centralized management of large, multiple-access wireless LANs. - AccessAdapt software for plug-and-play AP installation anywhere on the network. - AutoCell dynamic radio management that dramatically reduces time spent on infrastructure optimization.

With capacities of up to 200 access points per switch, the Summit WM1000 switch easily scales to support large WLAN installations. Remote offices can be supported without a local controller, simply configure an Altitude 350 AP to locally bridge traffic and enjoy centralized management and continuous service even when the connection to the central switch has been lost.

The suggested list price begins at US $16,995 for the Summit WM100 and US $32,995 for the Summit WM1000. Summit WM100 and Summit WM1000 switches will be available in July.
