Once again, a situation emerges where a certain product cannot come to market on time because of whatever reason, in this case the ExoPC slate being delayed because of issues with the actual building of each machine.

Even though the ExoPC tablet was supposed to start being shipped to customers on October 15, this will no longer occur.

Apparently, Pegatron, the manufacturer contracted to put them together, ran into an issue with the touchscreen manufacturing process.

Apparently, the automated tool it used to make the touch panels was defected and used too much force, so some tests units actually ended up with cracked screens.

Not all of the first shipments were damaged, of course, and while they will have 32GB SSDs instead of 64GB ones, they will be shipped on October 18. They are 100 in number.

Meanwhile, Pegatron has reportedly gotten over the issue and has replaced the faulty equipment, but ExoPC went for a different touchscreen provider that offers the same specifications.

The manufacturing partner in question is known as YFO and should be able to provide the displays required by the time ExoPC aims to finally ship the slates.

About four hundred tablets with either 32 GB or 64 GB solid state drives will be sent out in the first week of November.

“We expect to receive the first one hundred 32GB units on Friday, October 15. We will ship them the week of October 18,” the company stated.

“The next scheduled shipment should arrive to us on Friday, Oct 29. It will be an additional four hundred of the 32GB units and 64G units, and we will ship those to the next four hundred 32GB and 64GB pre-order customers on the first week of November,” the statement went on to saying.

All the units will be accompanied by a stylus, so as to make up for the delay, and should not have any other issues after that.
