A new free resource is available for download from Microsoft, designed to streamline the adoption of Exchange Server 2010 Service Pack 1. Henry Webb, a member of the Solution Accelerators Team announced the availability of the Infrastructure Planning and Design Guide for Exchange Server 2010 with Service Pack 1, a free download offered by the software giant.

IPD Guide for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP1 was put together by the Solution Accelerators team at Microsoft, which produces a number of additional resources offered through the Infrastructure Planning and Design series.

“The Infrastructure Planning and Design (IPD) Guide for Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 with Service Pack 1 takes the IT architect through a step-by-step process for successfully designing an Exchange Server 2010 infrastructure.

“Exchange Server 2010 supports a variety of infrastructure topologies that enable IT departments to deploy the messaging architecture that best suits their business needs.

“This guide will help organizations make informed decisions about the design of fault tolerance and scalability so that their overall requirements are met,” Webb stated.

The promise from Microsoft is that this latest solution accelerator can contribute to slashing the costs as well as cutting down the amount of time and offers necessary to plan and deploy Exchange 2010 SP1.

Essentially, the guide contains a set of best practices that customers can follow in order to ensure that their Exchange 2010 infrastructure deployment is a success.

According to Webb, the guide provides insight into the critical steps that need to be taken when designing the infrastructure for Exchange Server 2010, including:

“- Defining the project scope by identifying your individual business and IT requirements for a messaging infrastructure.

- Mapping features and functionality based on the defined scope to develop the appropriate Exchange Server 2010 design.

- Designing the infrastructure and role requirements for the proposed Exchange Server 2010 architecture.

- Determining the sizing, fault tolerance, and physical placement of Exchange Server 2010 roles.”
