Just yesterday, Petra Diamonds Limited, a mining group headquartered in Jersey, announced the discovery of a massive white diamond in South Africa.

The 232-carat precious stone, a photo of which is available next to this article, was recovered from a mine close to the town of Cullinan, information shared with the public says.

According to Petra Diamonds Limited, this diamond is impressive not only because it is mind-bogglingly big, but also because it is surprisingly clear.

“The stone is a D colour Type II diamond of exceptional size and clarity, and is a magnificent example of the large, high quality diamonds for which the mine is known,” the mining group said in a statement.

For the time being, it is unclear when the 232-carat white diamond will become available for purchase. Seeing how it's most surely worth one really big pile of cash, chances are that Petra Diamonds Limited will do its best to sell it sooner rather than later.

“The Company will update the market when finalized on the expected timing for the sale of this stone, which is expected to be in the second quarter of this financial year,” the mining group detailed on its plans for the near future.

Interestingly enough, the mine from which this massive white diamond was pulled is the same one where workers found an even bigger 3,106 carat diamond back in 1905.
