14 DAY TRIAL // Unsurprisingly, Turtle Rock Studios' asymmetrical multiplayer first-person shooter Evolve is at the top of UK's entertainment software sales charts for last week.
The studio isn't exactly new to multiplayer-oriented video games, as its previous hit shooter, Left 4 Dead, is still making people come together and attempt to survive wave after wave of zombies.
Now, together with publisher Take Two, Turtle Rock Studios attempted to challenge the way we perceive multiplayer in shooters, by proposing a novel way to go about shooting stuff in the face, with four players cooperating as a team of hunters, trying to take down a lumbering beast, controlled by a fifth player.
For the first week of February, Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was the clear winner, followed by Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto V and EA Sports' FIFA 15.
The best of the week
For the week ending February 14, we have three new entries shaking things up. The first is Evolve, followed by The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, which, together with the launch of the New 3DS hardware in Europe, made it a pretty good week for Nintendo.
Last week's top dog, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, was pushed down to number three, followed by Capcom's Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, jumping to the fourth position in the UKIE charts in its first week of existence in the West.
The usual suspects follow, in the form of GTA V and FIFA 15, then Uisoft's Far Cry 4, which managed to climb to position number seven, an increase since last week's number nine.
Mojang's Minecraft: Xbox Edition, Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Unity, and Bungie's Destiny close the top ten.
There weren't any big surprises this week, and it remains to be seen whether Evolve will manage to truly change gamers' multiplayer tastes, or whether everyone will return to the more conventional action of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare next week.
