The team wants to keep the match going for as long as possible

The development team at Turtle Rock says that it has managed to find a simple solution for the problems that an online multiplayer-focused game can have when the Internet connection of one of the players cuts out.

The studio says that it has plans to create a solid Artificial Intelligence routine that is able to take over when something like that happens in order to keep the game going and make sure that a character is not left helpless in the level.

Chris Ashton, the design director on Evolve and one of the co-founders of the company, tells VG247 that, “It’s still a little bit early, we’re still working that stuff out, but right now for sure AI will take over, and then depending on how you match-made into the game or what kind of mode it is, we’ll be able to match other people back into your game.”

Depending on the game mode, gamers will have various options to deal with a loss of Internet connection and it seems that the company is aiming to put a limit on the duration for which the AI can play.

The developer adds, “Having the AI be able to take over offers us some flexibility, for example; if you’re playing against a monster player, suppose his internet connection goes down or he yanks the cable out of the wall or something, we want to give him the opportunity to get his machine back online and get back into the game.”

No matter how good the AI that Turtle Rock creates, it will certainly be unable to replace a skilled human player, which means that even if the option is offered, plenty of gamers might choose to simply abandon the match rather than have a suboptimal experience.

Evolve is a shooter that will allow gamers to engage in four versus one matches, with one player becoming a monster and the other four creating a human hunting party.

The creature needs to explore the environment and evolve as quickly as possible in order to gain the power needed to take out his enemies.

Meanwhile, the humans can use a variety of weapons and abilities to track the monster and attack him and Turtle Rock says that teamwork will be required to take him down.

Evolve will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year on the PC, the PlayStation 4 from Sony and the Xbox One from Microsoft.
