Turtle Rock studios has offered some additional details surrounding one of the classes in its upcoming sci-fi first-person shooter, Evolve.

The game will offer a cooperative multiplayer experience, where four players will attempt to defeat an alien monster that another player controls, with each party making use of the many abilities they will each have at their disposal, in order to emerge triumphant.

Humanity has ventured into the far reaches of space in its search for resources, and is now forced to deal with the unfriendly local wildlife present on many of the colonized planets.

Players will take on the role of hunters, sent to incapacitate or kill various alien monsters. There will be four distinct classes available, assault, trapper, support and medic, with several specific characters with different loadouts in each class.

“I like to think of them as planet tamers. They show up on these planets, and they sort of help colonists make these places livable,” Phil Robb, one of the heads of Turtle Rock Studios, said during an interview with GameInformer.

The first character revealed by Turtle Rock was Markov, the Assault class hunter, a familiar role in most squad-based shooter games.

He will benefit from a generous health pool and will boast considerable firepower, and with the protection granted by his personal shield, he will surely be in the front line of attack.

He will be armed with two large weapons, a lightning gun very effective at close range, and an assault rifle for enemies that are harder to reach.

Markov will also possess electrical arc mines that are detonated by proximity, will not be triggered by his team mates, and are a great way to make sure you find out when a monster is sneaking up on you from behind.

The assault will definitely be a class for regular fans of first-person shooters, even more so with fans of tactical squad-based action, as his unique abilities will work even better in conjunction with his other team mates' own special abilities and tactics.

Evolve is expected to be released during Q3 2014, for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
