Gamers will need to pay for a new Season Pass

The development team at Turtle Rock Studios and publisher 2K Games are announcing that they are planning to launch the second season for Evolve on June 23 on all platforms, with gamers able to get access to four new characters that they can use during hunts and one new monster to serve as their antagonist.

All of the new content will be offered individually, and the first piece to be introduced, on release date, is a new Assault class member named Lennox, who will introduce a powerful melee attack that opens new options for the hunter team.

Gamers will be able to use a specialized Thunderchild mech suit that can deliver a plasma lance attack designed for close combat.

The new Evolve character can also use an autocannon for long-range battles and a Thunder Strike power.

A Season Pass for Hunting Season 2 is also offered for the game, with those who pick it up able to get access to an additional exclusive skin for each of the coming five new characters.

Turtle Rock Studios has not talked about the monster that will be added to Evolve and about the way it will shake up the traditional formula of the shooter.

Fans will also be relatively disappointed that they are not getting any sort of free content in order to celebrate the launch of the Second Season for Evolve.

The shooter has managed to get an established player base

Evolve launched in February on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and the PC and has managed to get a solid number of players who continue to play it to this day.

The core gameplay is based around an asymmetrical model, with four hunters who have to work together in order to use their skills and weapons to take down a powerful monster.

The community was not satisfied with the way the developers handled the delivery of DLC for the game, so it will be interesting to see how many of them will actually pick up the new characters.

Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games have not said whether they are planning to make Evolve a long-term franchise or if the game is set to get DLC for a while before the developers move to another project.
