Turtle Rock Studios and 2K Games have just rolled out a brand new and quite impressive video for their upcoming Evolve first-person shooter, this time showcasing, besides actual gameplay footage, some of the story background that leads up to the events in the title.

Evolve is one of the most anticipated all-new games set to appear in early 2015, as already quite a lot of people are eagerly awaiting the multiplayer-only shooter. It features both a cooperative aspect, as four players become a team of hunters, and a competitive side, which sees another human player take control of a monster that goes up against the aforementioned hunters.

The amount of hype for the game has been reaching new heights, especially since the great Big Alpha test phase a few weeks ago, and now, in order to make the wait until the game's release a bit more bearable, a fresh video has just been showcased by Turtle Rock and 2K.

The new video focuses on the story

While very little has been said about the plot of the upcoming shooter, the new video aims to remedy this, as it offers quite a few details about the story and sets the stage for the action that's included in Evolve.

You can admire in the footage below the leader of the hunters, Cabot, as he briefs them on their mission, which is to help evacuate the alien planet of Shear, currently being ransacked by all sorts of big monsters.

All the available hunters are depicted in the trailer, but also two of the monsters that they'll go up against, in the form of Goliath and Kraken.

Of course, Turtle Rock promises to bring forth more monsters, including one that's set to appear after the launch of the game and will be available for free to all those who pre-order Evolve ahead of its actual release.

The video also confirms the Xbox One open beta

The trailer also reveals at the end that a special Evolve open beta stage is going to take place in January 2015. Microsoft secured one day of exclusivity on the Evolve Big Alpha a few weeks ago and it seems that the company is continuing its partnership with 2K and Turtle Rock concerning Evolve and its various pre-launch events.

Expect to hear a more specific date for the Evolve open beta on Xbox One soon enough. Until then, check out the stellar trailer below.
