Another video from Evolve's alpha test that took place this weekend has emerged on the Internet, and this time around, the footage is a massive chunk of Kraken gameplay.

Depending on what side of the action you're on, the game is either a cooperative team shooter, where you have to use your class-specific abilities in tandem with your team mates in order to take down a beastly horror, or a third-person monster simulator, where you have to use the environment to the best of your ability in order to take down a team of squishy human treats.

Turtle Rock Studios' upcoming asymmetrical multiplayer shooter offers a pretty unique experience, completely different from traditional multiplayer shooters like Battlefield of Call of Duty, and potentially a welcome breath of fresh air for the shooter genre.

Evolve takes place in the distant future, on a fringe planet, where mankind employs teams of hunters in order to clear the hostile fauna before colonizing a new planet, and the game puts you in the role of a professional and expendable mercenary tasked with wiping out a giant monster.

The lengthy gameplay video comes with commentary from YouTube user jackfrags, explaining how the game works and what his decision process is, showing him running from hunters and singling them out, or looking for creeps to eat to regenerate his health, and also offers a bit of information on the available evolutions.

Whenever you level up in-game, you can evolve and either gain access to a whole new skill or improve an already existing one, and you have to tailor the choice to the specific team that you are fighting against as well as your own play style, in order to strike a balance between power and versatility.

Various monsters have different abilities, and the uploader offers precious insight into the game's general flow, informing for instance that although you are as strong as a boss character is in traditional games, if you are reckless, you will definitely lose the match.

He also reveals some of the intricacies of the upcoming shooter, such as the fact that the hunters can track you while you're on the ground, and you have to take to the skies as much as you can in order to be able to rebound after encounters that don't go your way.

The four classes that hunters can choose from are trapper, support, medic and assault, each of which plays a different role and requires a specific gameplay flow, involving careful timing and positioning, in order to make the best of their abilities.

The upcoming shooter also features a single-player campaign, but developer Turtle Rock has refrained from revealing specific details regarding it, for the time being.

Evolve is scheduled to come out on October 21, 2014, for the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms.
