Romanian manufacturer Evolio, known in the country for its budget tablets and smartphones, has recently released a new eBook reader.

The Evobook 3 has a 6-inch Pearl E-ink screen featuring a resolution of 600 x 800 pixel density. It’s powered by a 380MHz Allwinnter E200 CPU coupled with 64MB of RAM. It offers 4GB of internal storage which is more than enough for all your digital books and magazines. If you run out of space, there’s always the possibility to increase via the microSD card slot.

The producing company says you can read digital content in up to 16 different formats including Epub, PDF, DJVU, CHM, Mobi and FB2. Of course, classics like Doc, HTML, RTF, Docx and txt are also supported. Extended battery autonomy will allow users to keep the device running up for 20 days in stand-by.

Another interesting aspect of the Evobook 3 is that it runs Linux out of the box. It will ship bundled with 100 books and a $6 / €4.49 voucher that can be used in the Evolio eBook store to purchase content.

For the moment Evolio offers the eReader as part of a launching promotion for the price of $74 / €55. Later on the device will set you back with €89 / $120, so grab yours now.
