It may prove that some people aren't that fond of the traditional garden gnomes and would gladly have them replaced with pretty much anything else. And since evil is on the offer list, why not add a touch of creepiness to your front yard, especially since it's obvious that neighbors and passers-by will throw conspicuous and maybe worried looks at the gadgets scattered across your garden. Wanna have (weird) garden fun? Take a look at the metal critters created by designer Fred Conlon (yes, the same name as the Irish sculptor) and prepare to have them invade your lawn.

The Gnome-Be-Gone series is a whole solid concept based on two things: banishing the garden gnomes from people's lawns, yards and gardens, and replacing them with other figures and recycling metal.

Conlon's garden critters are all made from scrap metal and various hardware items, which can now enjoy a new, artistic life, much to the delight of people who are fed up with gnomes. We have sincerely appreciated the art of Fred Conlon because it has a very strong steampunk feeling about it: every item is in fact created using multiple pieces brought together in an uncanny manner and thus given a different meaning and functionality.

If you'd like to see more metal work signed by Fred Conlon you'd better check out this page and this one, and enjoy the sometimes malefic art. Some of the creations destined to invade your garden were absolutely hilarious, like the two evil metal critters burying a Flamingo head underground or the ones running with a garden gnome and getting ready to throw it away. They are a very strong statement that the almost ubiquitous gnomes' reign can and should come to an end, making room for the new sensation in garden accessories.

Many of Fred Conlon's creations can be installed outdoors and indoors with equally strong effects and could make exceptional gifts for your friends who loved Nightmare Before Christmas and The Corpse Bride.

We are just a few, but there are many of you, Softpedia users, out there. That's why we thought it would be a good idea to create an email address for you to help us a little in finding gadgets we missed. Interesting links are bound to be posted with recognition going mainly to those who submit. The address is .
