“Evil Dead” premiered at SXSW at the end of last week and reaction to it was amazing, even though the idea of the remake wasn’t one that was eagerly embraced by fans and critics. As it turns out, more of the same is coming our way.

This year’s “Evil Dead” isn’t even out in theaters yet, but writer and director Fede Alvarez, who is taking Sam Raimi’s 1981 horror cult film to a whole new level of gore and violence, is confident that audiences will love it.

In fact, he’s so convinced that people will flock to see it in theaters that he’s already agreed to do 2 more, as Slash Film confirms.

“I guess this is an official announcement: We are already writing Evil Dead 2,” Alvarez said during a Q&A at SXSW, adding that the plan is to make a trilogy.

“Evil Dead” is scheduled for theatrical release on April 12.
