Evernote Corporation has released a new version of its cross-platform "remembering" application, Evernote. Now at version 1.5.0, the software adds support for viewing ink notes, new language support, improved searching, and more. Evernote is free to download and use on the Mac and iPhone, as well as on Windows PCs.

Evernote is a service + application available in both free and paid form. Using the desktop app, you can tag your new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable. Evernote's flagship feature is its ability to read text inside images using the "text-recognition" technology. It can even read handwritten notes, so, basically, all you have to do is just search for an item inside Evernote just the way you remember it. The service is available for Mac, Windows PC and several mobile platforms, including the iPhone.

Evernote version 1.5.0 (10/12/2009) build 60140 for Mac OS X adds new features, as well as bug fixes. According to the changelog, the former include:

- Added support for viewing of Ink notes. - Evernote interface translated into French, German, Italian, and Spanish based on operating system preferences. - Improved searching for Chinese, Japanese, and Korean characters. - Allow users to auto-update to pre-released (Beta) versions of the Evernote for Mac client. Option added to Evernote preferences. - User's Evernote email address added to the Account Info window.

Issues addressed in this release include:

- Addressed issues related to Evernote's integration with the Safari toolbar, including 1Password. - Improved support for importing large ENEX files. - Fixed an issue which caused a pink error message to occasionally appear. - Fixed an issue which resulted in a blank note appearing when merging notes. - Fixed an issue related to searching for notes with words surrounded by punctuation.

The Evernote iPhone client is OS 3.0-tested and, since its last update, has brought significantly faster app-launch times for capturing new notes, fixes for networking and synchronization issues for certain carriers, as well as general bug fixes and improvements.
