Evernote, the handy note-focused app for all major platforms, has reached version 1.1.6 (build 38944). The new release adds support for bulleted and numbered lists, the ability to add, edit and remove links in the note editor, and a button in the note editor to insert a horizontal rule. Several issues have been addressed as well.

According to the changelog, when the cursor is inside a list tab will now increase list nesting, while Shift-Tab will decrease list nesting. You can now add, edit and remove links in the note editor. The “Link” submenu is available via the “Edit” menu, and by right clicking on content in the note editor window. The ever thoughtful folks at Evernote have included handy keyboard shortcuts as well.

Another new addition is a button in the note editor to insert a horizontal rule (<HR> tag). Basic support for inserting tables has also been added in v. 1.1.6. As such, when the cursor is inside a table cell, Tab will move to the next cell, Shift-Tab will move to the previous cell, while Tab in the last cell of the last row will create a new row.

One nasty issue in particular has been addressed - when syncing, the Mac client will no longer ask about unsynced notes in the trash, says Evernote. Notes in a synchronized notebook that are in the trash and have never been synced are no longer synced to the service as well, improving performance and speed.

Developed by the company with the same name, Evernote lets you capture stuff like webpages, whiteboards, scribbles, to-dos, photos and even music files, and keep them in a safe place. You tag your new additions, or add small notes to them, after which they are easily searchable. Evernote's flagship feature is its ability to read text inside images, a feature called “text-recognition.” It can even read handwritten notes, so, basically, all you have to do is just search for an item inside Evernote just like you remember it. Best of all, the service is available for all your devices, be it Mac, PC or mobile phone.

While the desktop version of the software is currently at its 1.1.5 (beta) release, Evernote for iPhone V. 1.4 brings offline support, and new additions like tips and suggestions on creative ways to use Evernote, significantly faster note loading, searching and filtering support, and support for Russian users.
