Sales should commence around the middle of June

By now, there already exist a fair number of netbooks with support for DDR3 on sale. This means that hearing about Acer's plans to launch another one will not exactly come as a surprise, especially knowing how the Taiwanese company is, practically, the main advocate of entry-level mobile PCs. Currently, Acer is putting the final touches on a model that should soon make its way into European stores. It goes by the name of Aspire One 533.

The Aspire One 533, like all netbooks powered by the Intel Pine Trail platform, has a display size of 10.1 inches, though the resolution is not completely common. Granted, the base option is that of a 1024 x 600 pixels, but a 1280 x 720 model is also selectable, obviously meant to be paired with slightly stronger insides. Predictably, this screen is fueled by the Intel GMA (graphics media accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics.

The rest of the feature set is, at the very least, less restricting than that of competing netbooks. At the heart of it all lies and Atom N455 CPU (1.66GHz) or an N475 (1.83GHz), both of which are alike in the fact that they support DDR3 RAM. Sure enough, 1GB of such memory is present, though consumers can choose to go for 2GB if they so wish. The storage capacity, also, is not restricted to 160GB, as 250GB and 320GB HDDs are optional. Other specifications include 10/100 LAN, optional Bluetooth 3.0 and 3G, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and a webcam.

The Acer Aspire one 533 is pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 and runs on a 6-cell battery, capable of keeping the device alive for up to 10 hours on a single charge. European stores should receive the first batch of models around the middle of July and should price them at roughly 329 Euro.
