Europe's largest nanotechnology event - the NTNE - will take place next year, 27-29 March 2007, in the northern Capital of Finland - Helsinki.

NTNE2007 is held in parallel with ChemBio Finland 07, combining the Northern Europe's largest nanotechnology event with the region's most significant event in the biotechnology and chemistry domains.

Organized by the Finnish nanotechnology consultancy and capital firm Spinverse Consulting, Nanotech Northern Europe provides a common forum for researchers, companies, investors, funding agencies and service providers such as intellectual property rights and commercialization experts.

The key debate themes of NTNE2007 will be application driven, focusing on nanoelectronics and photonics solutions, nanomaterials and nanoparticles for diagnostics and biomaterials, and safety of nanotechnology products. Furthermore, leading instrument and tool manufacturers will showcase the latest developments in measurement equipment and software solutions.

Keynote speakers at past NTNE events include renowned scientists such as Nobel Laureate Alan J. Heeger, and Sumio Iijima, one of the field's pioneers and a prospective future Nobel Prize winner as well. Corporate speakers have included representatives of large international companies such as Bob Iannucci, head of Nokia Research Center, and Jukka Kivinen, Vice President of UPM New Ventures. Public sector speakers have included European Commission representatives such as Commissioner Janez Potocnik and Unit Head Nicholas Hartley.

The main event partners of NTNE2006 were Nokia, the Nordic Innovation Center, Tekes, Veeco Instruments, FEI Company and Obducat. Moreover, the attendance increased to over 650 experts from 25 countries in 2006, and the number of exhibiting companies and organizations more than doubled from the previous year to over 100 companies.
