PNY may have recently released a new video controller, but it deals in more than just that type of product, as is made evident by the newest item that has made it to Europe, one flash drive that actually comes in multiple storage capacities.

With all the hype surrounding the latest iteration of the USB standard, one would not be surprised to hear that a new company created a product that supports it.

PNY didn't do so when it designed the Micro Slide Attache, however, deciding to stick to the mainstream USB 2.0 connection instead.

While SuperSpeed USB 3.0 does support a theoretical maximum transfer speed of 5 Gbps, it also adds extra cost to the electronics that use it.

There is also the fact that storage devices have yet to reach the point where they can truly take advantage of that bandwidth.

Even more, motherboards with USB 3.0 are still not as numerous as some may like, so there is still a general preference for USB 2.0-connected devices, at least as far as their makers go.

As such, the PNY Micro Slide Attache has an USB 2.0 port with backwards compatibility for USB 1.1.

The flash drive is built with a capless design and a slide-out mechanism, measuring 37.9 x 16 x 5 mm.

Reading data can be accomplished at up to 20 MB/s, whereas writing onto the Micro Slide Attache can be done at up to 8 MB/s.

Currently, three versions of the flash drive are available, with capacities of 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB, respectively.

As reports have it, the PNY Micro Slide Attache bear prices of 11.99 Euro, 19.99 Euro and 34.99 Euro, respectively, and are accompanied by a one-year warranty.

Depending on how NAND Flash chip prices behave, they may or may not end up selling for less before long.
